The Process
Thank you for the opportunity to present our refinishing package to you.
Refinished is a carefully planned step into the future of your aircraft.
Knowing what will be done and how it will be accomplished is an important part
of the process of having your aircraft refinished. Let me explain to you how we
at Top Gun Aircraft Refinishing will help you accomplish your goals.
The first step after your arrival at our facility is a pre-paint inspection.
We will look over the aircraft with you and discuss any areas that may need
extra attention. Items such as plastic farings that might need replacement, or
fiberglass parts that only need repairs will be brought to your attention. We
inspect the aircraft lighting to insure that its is functional at the time of
delivery. When the aircraft has been inspected and you have specified the areas
that you want to be repaired, it is time for the next step in the process.
Once all the details are worked out, it is time to start the process. Our
basic paint package is outlined below.
-
The aircraft is disassembled in preparation for stripping.
-
Controls are removed.
-
All plastic and fiberglass parts that can be, are removed.
-
The windows, antennae, and plastic/fiberglass parts are masked with chemical
resistant silicone impregnated foil and aluminum masking materials.
-
The painted aluminum surfaces are stripped using chemical paint removers.
-
The aircraft is acid etched to remove surface contaminates.
-
All farings and most removable aluminum parts are removed for painting.
-
At this time any surface imperfections are located, filled and then primed to
smooth them. eight hours of cosmetic repair is included in the price.
-
The aircraft is now ready for the final finish to be applied. The first step
is an epoxy primer to seal the repairs and provide a proper base for the Sherwinn
WIlliams JET GLO.
-
After the base color has properly cured, the trim striping is applied according
to customer specifications. Two trim colors are included in the price.
-
The final part of the paint application process is final paint inspection and
removal of the masking materials.
-
Next, the aircraft is reassembled.
-
Wing walks are applied using a special process that allows us to use either a
standard black wing walk or we can match it to the color that applied to the
wing area.
-
All required placards are installed on the aircraft.
-
The final step is to inspect the aircraft, clean the interior and prepare the
aircraft for customer inspection and delivery. Log book entries are made and
color numbers are labeled in the log book for future reference.
Thank you,
Terry W. Huffman
